HARTFORD, Conn. — A Hartford man was arrested Thursday after a deadly shooting in the city in August , according to the city's police department.

Courtney Byrd, 22, of Hartford, is facing charges of felony murder and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held on a $950,000 judge set bond.

Police said they responded to Main Street on Aug. 24 at 1:42 a.m. after receiving a report of a person shot.

Arriving officers found a gunshot victim, who they identified as Niajae Vernon, 25, of Hartford. He was unresponsive and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions assumed the investigation. They located Byrd on Thursday and took him into custody.
