PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Federal authorities unsealed two separate indictments on Thursday, and although they're linked, Blazers coach Chauncey Billups is only officially named in the one.
He is accused of wire fraud and money laundering, two charges tied to rigging poker games.
A lawyer who works on higher-profile cases like this said those charges can be broad and can encompass a lot of different things. Because of the larger nature of this case involving public figures and organized crime, it's likely there will be a motivation for defendants like Billups to mount a full defense at a trial.
