For the Osborn family, a simple idea hatched by the youngest generation has evolved into a massive entrepreneurial leap.
What started with brother and sister Dallas and Talia planting pumpkins last year quickly drove a plan to launch their own chicken business with just 30 chooks.
"With the money they made from the pumpkins, they planned to start a chicken business," their mum, Sam Osborn, told the Maitland Mercury.
That small ambition exploded when a local opportunity arose.
Brahm and Sam Osborn, who run Pitnacree Produce, took over the established 'Just Been Laid' egg operation five weeks ago, acquiring 800 birds from the previous owner.
"We started with the idea of 30 chickens, but the opportunity came up, and we ended up getting 800 birds," Sam said.
