VAN BUREN, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — President Donald Trump has nominated Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Holmes to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

The U.S. attorney position for the Western District of Arkansas has been vacant since 2020. Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Fowlkes has served as the acting U.S. Attorney since Duane "Dak" Kees resigned to take a position with Tyson Foods in January 2020.

Holmes was nominated by Trump on Tuesday for the position, according to the White House's website.

His nomination has been received in the Senate and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Holmes has served as prosecuting attorney in Crawford County since being elected in 2022.

The Western District of Arkansas covers 34 of the state's 75 counties.
