SPOKANE, Wash. — The chaos of July 25, 2024 is immediately apparent in body camera video from more than half a dozen Spokane Police officers, responding to the report a stolen car was spotted along North Altamont Street.
In the videos, shared with KREM 2 by Attorney Marcus Sweetser, you can hear children crying and a woman screaming. You can also repeatedly hear Kershawn Grigsby tell officers they've got the wrong person, to run his name because the car he was driving wasn't stolen.
As it turned out, he was right.
The videos are now some of the strongest evidence Grigsby has in his lawsuit against the Spokane Police Department. He claims his Constitutional rights were violated and that SPD's own policies are violent and unlawful.
Federal court records show the evening of July 25, 2024,
