ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The former DeKalb County School District superintendent has pleaded not guilty to federal charges he is facing after he was indicted in Illinois.

According to the charges, Dr. Devon Horton allegedly took kickbacks on contracts while he was overseeing a small school district in a Chicago suburb.

He was the superintendent of Evanston/Skokie School District 65 from 2020 to 2023. He was named DeKalb County superintendent in 2023 and resigned after he was charged.
