CHEYENNE — City of Cheyenne officials have submitted an amendment to their contract with U.S. Gold Corp, requesting additional funds for impact assistance regarding the CK Gold Project in Laramie County.
The request was submitted to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality’s Industrial Siting Division (ISD) on Oct. 16.
The land for the project is located in the Silver Crown Mining District, which lies about 20 miles west of Cheyenne — neighboring Curt Gowdy State Park — and is home to many historic mines.
U.S. Gold Corp, a gold exploration and development company, acquired 100% of the mineral lease to the property in 2016, and started exploring the possibility of mining the gold and copper deposit in 2020, according to the CK Gold website .
