VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A Rosepine man has been convicted on sex crime charges in Vernon Parish.
Today, a jury found Morris Eugene Perkins II, 41, guilty as charged on counts of first-degree rape and possession of pornography involving juveniles, the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office said.
On Nov. 2, 2022, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Perkins on an outstanding warrant from Louisiana State Police.
Perkins’ trial began Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, before Judge Tony Bennett, the Vernon DA’s office said. Jurors began hearing testimony Tuesday and received the case for consideration today. The jury reached a verdict after about an hour and a half of deliberations.
