COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A fiber optic company has paused work in a Lexington County neighborhood after repeatedly striking water lines and leaving residents without water service multiple times in recent weeks.
Lexington County confirmed that Lumos Fiber has a permit for construction all throughout the Laurel Meadows subdivision.
After repeated reports of water line strikes, the county sent inspectors and demanded a corrective action plan from Lumos and the utility company Blue Granite Water.
“They’re hitting the daggone water here and yonder everywhere,” Dan Cooper, who lives in Laurel Meadows, said.
The company has a history of issues in the state, including a stop-work order issued by Lexington County last year.
