INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department revealed its five-year strategic plan for protecting Indianapolis on Thursday.
A draft for the plan was the result of input from thousands of people, including residents and IMPD officers and staff. The plan is a roadmap, which guides the department through 2031. They partnered with Taylor Advising earlier this year to develop it.
IMPD Chief Chris Bailey said people inside the department and throughout the community responded to a request for input. They shared honest feedback about challenges IMPD faces and how they can better serve Indianapolis.
"At the core of this plan is our mission to keep our community safe from crime and harm by serving with courage, compassion, and purpose," Bailey said.
