AMES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing young driver safety, introducing the " Alive at 25 " program during National Teen Driver Safety Week.

Organizers say the initiative seeks to tackle critical issues such as peer pressure, risky decisions, and inexperience among Iowa's youngest drivers.

The "Alive at 25" course is a four-hour program designed to complement standard driver education. It focuses on the dangers of speeding, distractions, and peer pressure.

Young drivers with a second violation on their intermediate license can opt to take this course through the Iowa Illinois Safety Council instead of facing a license suspension. Successful completion by the deadline will lift the suspension, offering an educational altern
