LUDLOW, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A roadway was closed, and the Ludlow Fire Station was reportedly evacuated Thursday after a FedEx truck was found leaking and smoking nearby.
The fire department responded to a report about the truck, which was parked at the station at about 5:45 p.m. There firefighters discovered a leaking package inside the vehicle.
Through air monitoring in the truck's cab, firefighters also discovered high levels of carbon monoxide and gas, Ludlow Fire Department reports. Both the Vermont Hazardous Materials response Team and the VSP Bomb Squad were called as a result.
Vermont Route 103 was reportedly closed at about 7:00 p.m., which authorities say occurred "as a precaution." The fire station was also evacuated, and the FedEx driver was evaluated by ambulance personnel.
