RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Democrats will hold a meeting on Monday to begin the process of redrawing the Commonwealth’s House map, party sources in Richmond told WUSA9.
The move is expected to yield as many as three additional seats to the Democrats, according to the New York Times , which initially reported the meeting.
A letter obtained by WUSA9 indicates that a special meeting will be held in the Virginia House Chamber in the state capitol.
With the meeting, Democrats are expected to begin the process of redrawing state maps.
Virginia is currently locked in three heated statewide races – according to a recent Virginia Commonwealth Poll, Democrat challenger Abigail Spanberger (49 percent) holds the lead over Republican Winsome Earle Sears (42 percent) in the gubernatorial race. Demo
