CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- New reports suggest that Virginia Democrats may try to pursue redistricting ahead of the 2026 elections, but the clock is ticking.
To make it happen, lawmakers would have to move quickly. The General Assembly would first need to pass a constitutional amendment during a special session before the 2025 election. Then, they’d have to pass it again in the following session early next year, followed by a statewide referendum within 90 days to give voters the final say.
