INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers started the new season the same way they ended last season — in a battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In the end, the Thunder, who defeated Indiana in seven games to win the NBA title in June, came out on top of a back-and-forth battle to pick up the 141-135 win in double overtime.
Indiana trailed 54-47 at halftime, but fought back in the third quarter to take the lead.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander split a pair of free throws with 13 seconds remaining in regulation to give Oklahoma City a 113-111 lead. Pascal Siakam hit a jump shot to tie the game with six seconds left, then grabbed a rebound on Gilgeous-Alexander's shot to win the game in the final seconds, sending the game to overtime.
Gilgeous-Alexander again put the Thunder ahead in overtime, 124-1
