COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Time is running out to fund one of America’s largest food assistance programs, something that could impact hundreds of thousands of Coloradans.
The USDA announced on October 10 that if the government shutdown continues, there won’t be money to pay for full November benefits for those enrolled in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, or SNAP .
On Wednesday, 46 U.S. senators sent a letter to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, asking her to release funding to make sure the 42 million SNAP recipients get their benefits.
“Americans are already struggling with the rising cost of groceries, and they cannot afford a sudden lapse in grocery assistance,” wrote the senators. “Any halt in SNAP funding will have devastating impacts for program beneficiar
