As we wait for the relief of rain, East Texas has experienced an uptick in fires that have spread on the ground all week long. “We’ve been going around the clock,” said Smith County Emergency Services District 2 division chief Charles Clanton. Clanton says Smith County ESD2 is conserving water in its current training of new hires and hoping to get enough rain this weekend to help with the current drought conditions.
