For the second straight game to start the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder needed double overtime to finish the job — and once again, they did.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a career-high 55 points, powering the defending champions past the Indiana Pacers 141-135 in a rematch of last season’s NBA Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Oklahoma City led late in regulation after Gilgeous-Alexander drilled a go-ahead jumper, but Bennedict Mathurin answered on the other end to force overtime. The same story repeated in the first extra frame before Aaron Wiggins turned hero in double OT, hitting a put-back three-point play to swing the lead and then sealing the win.
