US President Donald Trump has cancelled all trade talks with Canada, accusing America's northern neighbour of interfering with a Supreme Court case on his reciprocal tariffs.

The two countries have been in trade negotiations since Trump signed an executive order to increase tariffs on Canadian goods to 35 per cent, which came into effect on August 1.

After an ad ran in the Canadian province of Ottawa using former president Ronald Reagan railing against tariffs, President Trump announced the negotiations would be halted immediately.

"The Ronald Reagan Foundation has just announced that Canada has fraudulently used an advertisement, which is fake, featuring Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about Tariffs," Trump posted to his social media platform Truth Social.
