Mitchell Freeway fire: Car goes up in flames after crash before Hutton Street

A car went up in flames on a major Perth freeway on Friday morning, with motorists urged to exercise extreme caution in the area.

The vehicle erupted into flames after a crash on Mitchell Freeway southbound, just before the Hutton Street exit in Osborne Park, about 10.11am.

St John confirmed a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The right three lanes were closed as a result, with Main Roads WA confirming traffic was backed up to Karrinyup Road.

A video taken by a passenger in a car driving by the crash shows three fire trucks, an ambulance and police car at the scene.
