If I were a director of the Australian Rugby League Commission and responsible for protecting its myriad interests and charting its destiny, I too would harbour a rampaging appetite for yanking every lever within reach to thwart a heist from Rugby 360 .

And I’d like to reckon I’d succeed in that quest and be the polar opposite of the security guards stationed inside The Louvre .

The ARLC has warned of 10-year bans for players who sign with – or even negotiate with – R360 . Whatever the finesse is in all this, the ARLC must proceed in a manner structured to withstand inevitable legal scrutiny. Otherwise, whatever rules are introduced can only serve to cause harm.
