LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Harry Reid Airport is helping coordinate a food and essentials pantry donation for all of its federal workers currently without pay.
The airport told 8 News Now that they employ more than 1,500 federal employees, which includes agencies like the FAA, TSA, Customs and Border Patrol agents, and more.
"This is acknowledged; they understand what we are doing. We are not one of those airports in the top 20 of absenteeism as a problem," Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said. "It is because of them and the way they are reacting to what is being done."
The pantry is open for anyone who needs it, and county officials shared how grateful they are to those working through the shutdown. They added that impacted employees continue to show up.
