University of Nevada, Reno President Brian Sandoval had the proof when he said, “We don’t wait for the future to happen, we make it happen.”

The 17 th president of UNR laid out aggressive plans for the future in an hour-long State of the University address this week in a packed ballroom on campus. It was his fifth address since he took over the helm of UNR in 2020.

“Fair warning, this is going to be a long one, so I asked them to have coffee in the back,” Sandoval said just before he outlined more than a dozen bold endeavors he's spearheading.

He talked about UNR’s future that ranged from growing online-only degree programs and the push to have more high school students in college courses to proposals that include a University Hotel and a new life science building.
