LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Nancy Rouas said a lot of people assume she is leaving their dream; however, her rural Nevada lifestyle became the center of a city hall fight over roosters—also camels.
In 1997, Rouas earned a business license and started work on her two-acre Henderson Ranch, later becoming Petting Zoo 2 U, a traveling event activity.
“We started out doing a lot of the small birthday parties, and it kind of grew very organically from there,” she said.
The small business grew and became an in-demand addition for a variety of Las Vegas events, including the Wednesday Clark County Juvenile Detention Trunk or Treat Scare-a-bration.
“Some kids are afraid at first,” she said. “My favorite reaction is when they get over that deer in the headlights look, and then they really enjoy petting
