St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish teammates Chase Capes and Keala Pickard won individual titles at the SWOSSAA cross-country championship Thursday in Windsor.
Capes also led the Irish to victory in the senior boys division.
In each division, the top two teams and top five individuals not on those teams advance to the OFSAA championship Nov. 1 in Brampton. Four teams and five individuals from Sarnia-Lambton qualified.
Capes won his six-kilometre race in 19:49.60 at Malden Park. Ryan Ladouceur (fourth place, 20:16.40), Evan Iacobelli (seventh, 20:37.60) and Daniel Diaz Quinones (10th, 20:51.10) also scored points as the Irish totalled 22.
The Northern Vikings – Alexzander Fortney (eighth, 20:42.90), Kyle Guthrie (12th), Dawson Moses (15th) and Prestyn Murphy (22nd) – were second with 57 point
