New Delhi: Piyush Pandey, the architect of Indian advertising, passed away on Friday at the age of 70 after battling an infection. Known as the man who gave Indian advertising its voice, Pandey spent over four decades at Ogilvy India, where he served as Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman India.

Pandey joined Ogilvy in 1982 and quickly established himself as a creative powerhouse. He crafted iconic campaigns for brands such as Fevicol, Cadbury, Asian Paints, Luna Moped and Fortune Oil.

His work brought Hindi and colloquial Indian expressions into mainstream advertising, infusing them with humor, warmth and relatability. Under his leadership, Ogilvy India was ranked the country’s number one agency for 12 years in the Economic Times’ Agency Reckoner.
