India’s 2-wicket loss on Thursday in Adelaide handed Australia a 2-0 unassailable lead in the ongoing series. With a whitewash now looming ahead of the final clash in Sydney, India’s recent record in bilateral ODIs — particularly over the past five years — remains a major concern.
This is India’s 13 th bilateral ODI series away from home since February 2020. Out of which, they have lost 7, including the ongoing one against Australia. Speaking of series whitewashes, they have endured two: against New Zealand in 2020 and against South Africa in 2021-22.
If India lose the third ODI on Saturday at the SCG, it will be their third series whitewash away from in the last 5 years. Interestingly, it will be India’s first-ever whitewash against Australia in ODIs.
