The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone alert for the Bay of Bengal, warning that a low-pressure area currently active in the southeast region may intensify into a cyclone by the morning of October 27.

The system, which developed due to upper air cyclonic circulation, is moving in a west-northwest direction. IMD expects it to strengthen into a depression by October 25, deepen into a deep depression by October 26, and potentially evolve into a cyclone the following day.

As the system intensifies, IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across several parts of Odisha until October 27. Consequently, the department has issued a yellow warning for multiple districts and advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.
