The Karnataka Police Thursday informed the high court that BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj was in touch, personally and through close associates, with a gangster arrested for the murder of a real estate operator, both before and after the crime.
The police have cited the close association unearthed by investigations between Basavaraj, 63, and the prime accused in the murder case, Jagadish P alias Jaga, 45, as well as an evidentiary statement given by the mother of the victim regarding the MLA’s role in a property dispute with her son, V G Shivaprakash, 44, as reasons to sustain the case and KCOCA (Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act) charges.
The prosecution presented the statements of objections to petitions filed by MLA Basavaraj for the quashing of the murder case against him, as well
