Branson, Mo. (KY3) - An investigation is underway in Branson after a woman died in an early morning house fire.

Branson Fire Rescue responded to the 200 block of Oklahoma Street at 4 a.m. They found the home engulfed in flames, and a female was stuck inside. The department says firefighters immediately entered and pulled her out. But after performing life-saving measures on scene, she died.

A man who was able to make it out of the home was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Officials with Branson Fire Rescue say a space heater that was plugged into an extension cord cannot be ruled out as the cause. The Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to help with the investigation.
