Springfield City Council appointed the only person who applied to be its newest member Oct. 20.

Victoria Doyle, the previous City Councilor representing Ward 5 (east of 42nd Street and west of Bob Straub Parkway and 55th Street), resigned in August , leaving a seat vacant. Only Andrew Buck applied to fill the vacancy. Councilors interviewed and appointed him unanimously.
