ALLOUEZ, Wis. (WBAY) - State Sen. Andre Jacque (R-De Pere) says he could meet Friday with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to discuss Gov. Tony Evers’s request for DOC funding.
Last week, the governor requested the State Building Commission release the $15 million approved in the state budget to begin planning for several corrections projects.
That includes starting the work to close the 127-year-old Green Bay Correctional Institution in Allouez -- a move Jacque supports.
On Thursday, Jacque told Action 2 News he’s working with Democrats and the governor to try to come to an agreement. The building commission meets next week to vote on the matter.
