MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) - The city of Menasha says it’s working on a plan to replace the swimming pool at Jefferson Park.
On Thursday, the city announced the pool would not open in 2026.
On October 13th, the Menasha Common Council voted to close the pool for the entirety of 2026 so they have the time to draw up designs for the new pool come the following year.
They said it’s just too expensive to keep the pool open while that happens.
The pool has outlived the average life expectancy, which is 35 to 40 years.
The hope is to generate more than $12 million for this project through budgets and fundraising over the next 2 years.
One reason this is being done now is to finally wrap up remodeling for the park, with the pool being the last part.
The more the city waits, the more expensive it
