The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without one of their top relievers on Friday as the World Series matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays gets underway.
The Dodgers announced in a statement on Thursday that left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia is away from the team.
Los Angeles must turn in its World Series roster by 10 a.m. ET Friday, but the Dodgers could place Vesia on the family medical emergency list. If they do that, he would be away from the team for at least three days and no more than seven days.
Either way, it appears as though Alex Vesia will miss at least the first two games of the World Series.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the Dodgers said in a statement.
