Mangalore: Following viral reports alleging that a patient at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital was declared dead and later woke up during cremation, the hospital has issued a detailed clarification dismissing the claims as misinformation.
According to the false reports circulating on social media and certain media portals, a 69-year-old man was declared dead at the hospital on October 19, 2025, and his body, allegedly kept in a freezer overnight, reportedly began moving during cremation at Kumbla the next day.
The hospital clarified the facts, stating that the patient, a resident of Rama Nagara, Kanchikatte, Kumble, Kasaragod, was admitted to Yenepoya Medical College Hospital on October 14, 2025, at 5:59 am after developing sudden weakness in all four limbs and losing consciousness.
