Vancouver police say an organized crime group took control of several rooms in a Downtown Eastside hotel used for low-income housing, turning them into hubs for drug and weapons trafficking. Three men were arrested and thousands of dollars in drugs, weapons, and stolen goods were seized after a six-month investigation.
Police announced the results Wednesday, revealing that the operation centered on the West Hotel at 488 Carrall Street, a single-room occupancy building known for housing some of Vancouver’s most vulnerable residents. Sgt. Steve Addison, spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department, said officers launched the probe in August as part of an ongoing effort to reduce organized criminal activity in the Downtown Eastside.
