Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal addressed the league's betting scandal that shocked the sports world on "Inside the NBA" on ESPN Thursday night.
O'Neal said that he was “ashamed” that former Piston and current Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and Heat guard Terry Rozier allegedly “put their families and their careers in jeopardy” by getting wrapped up in allegations of illegal gambling.
“I don’t like to sit up here and be hypocritical about certain things," O'Neal said. "I homeboy gamble, Ernie (host Ernie Johnson). You know, bet it, we’ve bet on teams. We've played spades, we've played tonk."
“With that being said, every year they would give us forums on what and what not to do. One of those things were if somebody asked if a certain player was playing, you say no.”
Billups, 49
