(BCN) -- Friday in the Bay Area calls for mostly sunny skies, with cloud cover in some areas, and slight chances of showers around the bay, according to the National Weather Service.

Daytime highs will be in the mid 60s to low 70s on the coast, high 60s around the bay, and low to mid 70s inland. Overnight lows will be mostly in the low to mid 50s.

Bay Area residents may see fog along the coast and in some inland valleys early Friday morning as a shallow marine layer fills in overnight, forecasters say.

According to the NWS, there's a 30 to 50% chance of fog developing before sunrise as surface temperatures cool and light winds combine with high pressure aloft. Conditions such as higher dew points, long overnight cooling, and calm winds are favorable for both advection and radiation fog,
