A vehicle fire closed a country road between Coventry and Rugby on Friday (24 October). Emergency services were called to Straight Mile at 6am.

Fire crews fought to bring the blaze under control but the road remained closed for several hours. Police and ambulance were also called to the scene.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted around 6am on Friday 24 October 2025 to reports of a vehicle fire on the B4453, Rugby Road, Straight Mile in Princethorpe.

"The service had three appliances in attendance and used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the fire."

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent specialist care teams to the scene but have not revealed at this time if there were any injuries.
