An Indianapolis police chase turned fatal after the fleeing driver struck a semi-truck's trailer as it was crossing an intersection on the city's south side, leaving one woman dead and a man in critical condition.

The chase started at about 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 24, after an officer attempted to pull over a gold Buick LeSabre. The vehicle's registered owner was a suspect in another crime, police said, but provided no additional details about that case. The pursuit started near West Troy Avenue and Westbrook Avenue , according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The pursuit lasted about 13 minutes over 4 miles, with the driver weaving through lanes, darting in and out of oncoming traffic, and reaching nearly 100 mph, according to police.
