The U.S. Senate’s top Democrat on Thursday tore into White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt after apparently thinking she said the $300 million ballroom under construction is President Donald Trump’s “main priority.”
“Honestly, you can’t make this s--- up,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., tweeted Thursday afternoon in response to a clip from Leavitt’s daily press briefing.
But Leavitt wasn’t saying the ballroom is Trump’s top priority overall, which led the White House to call Schumer “a scumbag and a liar.”
Leavitt was responding to a question about whether Trump had any other White House construction plans besides the ballroom and the Rose Garden that was paved over.
