FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Florence man was arrested after a verbal argument led to one person being shot at The Baymont Hotel in Florence, the Florence County Sheriff's Office said.

Bobby Eric Spates, 34, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by person convicted of a violent felony, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses.

Deputies responded at 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 1 to the hotel on W. Lucas Street where the victim had been shot by Spates. It was later found that not long after the shooting, Spates threatened the victim and told them not to pursue criminal charges in relation to the incident.
