PHOENIX – Traffic on Interstate 10 south of metro Phoenix was delayed in both directions after a serious crash during the Friday morning commute, authorities said.

The multivehicle collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on eastbound I-10 near Casa Blanca Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The right lane of eastbound I-10 was blocked by the wreckage, although the Arizona Department of Transportation traffic map showed significant backups in both directions approaching the crash site as of 8 a.m.

DPS said the driver of a car that collided with a commercial truck carrying produce was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
