An Indiana man will spend just shy of a decade behind bars for the role he played in his 12-year-old daughter's preventable death.
Earlier this month , Brent M. Bredhold, 39, was convicted by a jury of his peers on one count of neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury. He faced a maximum sentence of 16 years.
On Thursday, Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Judge Ryan D. Hatfield sentenced Bredhold to nine years in a Hoosier state prison.
The punishment stems from the death of the defendant's daughter, Alice Bredhold , 12, who passed away due to treatable — but largely untreated — complications from diabetes.
