A 78-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Providence on the night of Thursday, Oct. 23, has died, according to Providence police.

The man was crossing Branch Avenue near Abram St. when he was hit, said a police spokeswoman, Kristy dosReis.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, she said.

The pedestrian later died at Rhode Island Hospital.
