KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Streets and Sanitation Division of the Kingsport Public Works Department conducted its annual snow removal equipment inspections on Friday.

So far, Kingsport has 4,300 tons of salt on hand, as well as 6,000 gallons of calcium chloride and 10,000 gallons of salt brine ahead of the winter season.

"Last winter, because of what they do in prep, we had a snow and it was a non-event because of the fact that they were so well prepared with salt and brine and all that [was placed]," Montgomery said.

The Kingsport Public Works Department has 40 vehicles with snowplows and salt spreaders to cover approximately 500 miles of road
