LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As the government shutdown continues, it's affecting thousands of people nationwide, including right here in the Natural state.

This week, the Arkansas Department of Human Services released a statement warning of possible delays or disruptions to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Beginning November 1, the SNAP retail system could disallow purchases , even if someone has funds in their account, or cause delays in processing applications and renewals. This could impact more than 240,000 people who receive SNAP benefits in Arkansas.

Now, Kroger has announced a $5000 donation in gift cards to the Arkansas Food Bank. They can be used at any Kroger location and will begin being distributed today, starting with government workers who haven’t been paid.
