ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources awarded the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District $10 million.
The money will cover the entire cost of upgrading the sewer collection system, which is expected to be finished by October 2026.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, the upgrades are key to the sewer district’s Public Inflow and Infiltration Reduction Program. The program focuses on rehabilitating the existing collection system throughout the district’s entire service area.
The entire program is part of the sewer district’s effort to reduce sewer overflow occurrences and volumes by reducing groundwater and stormwater flowing into the collection system.
