The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat that was reported to the Alburnett School District Friday through a voicemail, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The voicemail was left by a computer-generated voice and its origin is unknown. Similar threats were made in other areas of the state Friday, and the sheriff’s office is working with other agencies to investigate and determine if the calls are related, the release states.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
