Mark Watson, a Catholic trustee who has come under fire for not repaying expenses for a controversial trip to Italy last year, has resigned from the school board.
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board posted a statement on its website Friday acknowledging receipt of a resignation from Watson, who represented Haldimand County on the board.
“We respect Trustee Watson’s decision to step down from the Board and will move forward, collaboratively, with a continued focus on teaching and learning, student well-being, and the strategic priorities that guide our Catholic school system,” said board chair Carol Luciani.
